Tonight, after coffee and more coffee and supper with my friend Ed Bader, a visual artist living in Grand Prairie and in Calgary for a few days, I stopped at the magazine store on 17th Ave. a few blocks up from the 17th Ave. Fairsfair books in Calgary, AB. I admit, I’m a glutten for the London Review, New York Review, and Book Forumn. Then, of course, as soon as I consume a few reviews I want to read the entire works. So, the reviewers of these papers are doing a good sell-job, if I am at all representative of the typical reader of their reviews.
What I would like to purchase and read soon:
Artscience: Creativity in the post-Google Generation by David Edwards
Beyond the Zonules of Zinn (a journey through the nervous system) by David Bainbridge
The Comfort of Thiings by Daniel Miller
This is an extremely conservative wish-list for the week, but then I have 250 books waiting patiently on the ironing board (the extension of my nighttable), on my scarred roll-top, on the coffee table, and on the passenger seat of my car, waiting to be read.
