Doris Lessing recently won the Nobel Prize. She seemed sad to have done so, because as she’s indicated in some of her interviews it’s the final step. One senses that as long as the Nobel is dangled like the desired food in front of writers’ noses there’s always something to work toward. Then it happens and what’s left?
Anyway, I think the U Tube clippings of Lessing responding to the win are priceless. Check out these clippings by typing in U Tube Doris Lessing. I wonder what Margaret Atwood’s response will be when she’s 90 or so and told she has received the Nobel Prize.
