It’s Sunday morning and I am enjoying the movie mentioned above. I read the book so many years ago it must have been before I became a bookseller myself. The movie makes me a little sad to think that I am now a bookseller, only at heart. Life brings us changes that sometimes hold blessings and sadness all at once. I love the correspondence exchange between Helene Hanff and the bookshop staffers. I have been blessed with many conversational exchanges between myself and very many folks who passed through my stores. So many were open enough to share their lives with me if for only a few moments, and they all seemed to tolerate me quite well when my life peeked into the store from time to time. Much like the staffers at the little bookshop in England, we were grateful for the cookies and treats that were given to us at Christmas by Shirley, Norma, and many other dear ladies that we hold in our prayers. Thank you dear ones, I think of you often. Even more, I miss greeting all those that entered our stores, both new customers and all those that have followed our stores wherever they may pop up. Booklovers run the gamut of being stodgy ol’ poops to warm book huggers and I love them all.

I am currently living the semi-retired life. I’m working for Tim Horton’s in Riverbend at the ungodly hour of 4:45am to a more reasonable time of 9:30am, Monday - Thursday. These are the hours that I was hoping for and they became available soon after I applied. There are blessings out there. For the rest of the day, I am available to babysit my little grandbabies here and there and they, along with my children fill my life where the bookstore has left off.  One day, I hope to again be a bookseller, but until then…my life goes on.

Working at Timmy’s and being semi retired in beautiful Alberta sounds pretty good, ‘eh? ;-)
