Women who love to read

Submit your writing

Fair's Fair Books (For Book Lovers) Inc., Calgary, Alberta, invites submissions in English (or French with an English translation included) for an online project under the rubric of "Women Who Love to Read Project."

Submissions may be sent by e-mail to Yvonne Trainer at with the subject heading "Women Who Love to Read." We ask that submissions be 500–700 words in length and will accept them until 31 December 2007.

About 100 entries will be chosen for a hardcopy anthology titled "Women Who Love to Read." The honorarium will be in the form of copies of the anthology.

The copyright remains with the author. Slight substantive editing might be necessary for purposes of formatting and consistency.

You might wish to consider the following suggestions:

  • What do you remember about your first reading experiences?
  • What did you read as a child?
  • Who read to you?
  • How has reading affected, changed, or influenced your later life?
  • Where did you read (e.g., under a favourite tree, in bed, on the back deck)?
  • What were your favourite childhood and teenage books?
  • What are you reading now?

Please include a short biography (approximately five sentences) to let us know who you are, where you're from, and other items of interest.

Thank you, and I look forward to reading your submissions.

Yvonne Trainer, B.A., M.A., Ph.D. (English), Literary Arts Coordinator, "Fair's Fair Books"
